Have you noticed the increase in tv shows and movies about fantasy and magic? When I was 18 (oh so many years ago) I was interested in that stuff. There wasn’t too many shows about witches or vampires. I mean I know Charmed was a witch show that I enjoyed and I loved Buffy the vampire slayer (show not movie). But there wasn’t much else to feed my curiosity. Nowadays all you have to do is switch on the tv and BOOM- dark magic city. They rebooted charmed with a more ethnic group of sisters, they had show after show of vampires, movies like Twilight, Demon fighting shows like Supernatural where the devil is kinda a nice guy, the tv show Lucifer. It’s all over. Now don’t get me wrong. I don’t watch tv. When I was growing up and was far from saved I would drool over all the paranormal I could. Now I’ve gone to spend time at my neighbors’ apt and they’ve had tv on. Or if I go to my parents’s house they have it on and I might see something now and then (I love Hallmark channel) but my lust for evil programming has me shun most of tv. I’ve learned thru my walk with Christ what is right and wrong and what is pleasing to Him.
So the reason for this long post is that I implore you, if you are letting yourself get hooked into the devil’s programming, get on your knees and pray! You need healing, you need salvation, you need to be set free!!!!! Praise God for his Word.
I have been watching the 1st season of “The Chosen”. It’s the story of Jesus. It starts when he starts his ministry. It’s available on the App Store and google play. I deeply encourage you to watch it. It’s free. It’s run on donations so that if you wish, you can pay for someone’s viewing. It even tells you the name of the person who donated the episode to you.
Anyway I was so moved by this series that I actually cried a few times. Real, ugly, “forgive me Lord” tears. I remember my sins and beg for forgiveness for them. This series ignites my faith and reminds me that God does truly love us.
Sorry I’ve been MIA for months. I’ve been plagued by many issues in my life. Those who know me personally know how I don’t handle stress well. But the Lord is with me, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
I can’t wait till the changing of the colors of the leaves 🍁 🍂 and the cooler weather. I love fall.
Please pray for my finances. Without going into detail, I’d just like to say it’s getting harder to make ends meet. That’s it, discussion about my finances is over.
Also I was thinking of changing up my headcovering to a snood. Hopefully you know that is, but here’s a pic. It’s from garlandsofgrace.com.
Isn’t it pretty? I’m gonna hint that I want one for Christmas. Lol.
Now tell me. What’s new in your neck of the woods?
Have you thought about prayer? Not just any prayer though. Actual sweat producing talking to the father. I’ve seen people who quickly give a “thank you” to God before a meal, or a quick 5 minute devotion. Now I’m not saying that you gotta spend hours and hours praying (But it wouldn’t hurt). But you are talking to the creator of all the universe. He was there when there was nothing there, and WILL BE there after everything is gone. Show some respect will ya? Prayer is a solemn act.
It brings you closer to Him and He is pleased when you take the time out for prayer. And none of us is of so little import that we are not heard.
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”
1 John 5:14 KJV
And praying is not that difficult. Some people pray by just talking to God like a friend. And that’s fine. Because he is also our friend. So don’t think you gotta say all these words and proclamations or repetitive sayings. The Bible clearly tells us we don’t.
“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”
Matthew 6:7 KJV
The most important thing about prayer is how you end it. Don’t forget to say “In Jesus’s name” or other variations of that. Because Christ said, ““And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John 14:13-14 KJV
Keep on praying, my friends. And if I come to thought, pray for me also. Everyone needs prayer. Including me. God bless, and hopefully I will post more often, Lord willing.
I’ve never experienced true peace like when I’m in the country surrounded by God’s creations. I went to Missouri this past fall to visit my friend and her 14 brothers and sisters. They live on 80 acres of land with a creek and animals. I’ve walked their land and just felt a peace. I feel the same when I go to Lancaster County. All that green in the summer, the quiet nights where there aren’t any fire trucks or police cruisers racing the streets, it’s crazy wonderful. I was born and raised in NYC. The closest thing we had to a farm was the petting zoo. So you’d think I’d prefer the city. Nope. I don’t appreciate the bugs in the country but that’s what bug spray is for. Lol.
I would love to own a little cottage on some land and commune with God. Not that you can’t commune in the city, but the awesomeness of nature is this: to realize that the God that made the mountains and streams, the clouds and stars and everything else, made me.
But whether or not you are in the country, you should take time out each day and read your Bible, pray and talk to God. I wish everyone the best.
