Why Christian women should NOT wear the hijab

This is a controversial topic. One of my most controversial so far. But it has to be said. Now there are different types of headcoverings for different religions. 

People are identified by how they look. You can tell a catholic nun by her habit. You can tell a muslim woman by her hijab. Now you know EXACTLY what they believe in or stand for based on their choice of clothes. Why would you go an confuse people as to what you believe in?

When a Christian wears hijab (and don’t think they aren’t out there cause they are), it gives the false idea that they don’t believe in Jesus as their Savior. It makes them appear muslim. They are actually representing another god. 

   Most of the time, you’re only testimony is your appearance. So why let your appearance be a lie. Stand up for Jesus. 

The way others see us

People have often asked me, “Why do you dress the way you do?” It’s sort of a hard question. I can say tradition because as an African American / Puerto Rican American it’s not my tradition. I grew up in jeans. I wore earrings (rather large ones). I wore tight clothing to accentuate my evolving girlish figure. 

I transformed myself from that to the modest woman I am. From jeans to skirts and jumpers, to cape dresses only. No jewelry, no makeup. No more platform shoes! But why? Because I want to please God. 

“God doesn’t care what I look like”. You may think that but you’d be terribly, horribly wrong. Now when you first discover Christ, you’ll find out that he says come as you are. That part is true but he doesn’t say stay as you are. As you spiritually grow you should want to please God in all areas of your life. That includes wardrobe. 

The reason I stopped wearing pants can be found in Deuteronomy‬ ‭22:5‬. That passage states:“The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the Lord thy God.”

‭In whatever culture you live in, stop wearing what the opposite sex normally wears. “But guys wear kilts”. You don’t see girls wearing kilts. It’s a man tho g so therefore they are not wearing what the opposite sex wears. 

The Bible has a standard for dress for women. “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;” 1 Timothy 2:9 KJV

‭We are not to wear jewels nor weave our hair in grand designs. The wealthy women at the time of the Bible would make their hair in grandiose braids and designs which did not bring glory to God, but was rather pretentious. 

In fact, I cover my hair in obedience to  scripture. “But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?”            ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭11:5-6, 10, 13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:3-5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So I cover my body and I cover my head according to scripture.

Resurrection Sunday


Happy Easter or as I prefer to call it. Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Why do I call it Resurrection Sunday? Because Jesus Christ, the Son of God who was crucified on that horrible Friday, buried in that tomb till Saturday arose again to full life on Sunday morning. He is risen! He is alive!

He bore all our sins and troubles upon Himself. All because He loves us. He loved you even before you were born and decided then and there that He’d die for you!

Praise the Lord!


Modesty is something that has to be addressed. 

One definition of modesty is the behavior, manner, or appearance intended to avoid impropriety or indecency. 

plural noun: modesties

“modesty forbade her to undress in front of so many people”

synonyms: unpretentiousness, simplicity, plainness

“the modesty of his home”  

What are examples of modesty? Well in the 50s, girls had the finger length test in school. The girls had to put their arms down their sides and if their skirt or dress was shorter than their fingertips they had to go home. That may or may not have been extreme. It depends on who you ask. 

There are plenty of women walking around with skirts or dresses shorter then  that but they wear leggings underneath as if it would make it more modest. Some women even wear leggings to wear with tips alone! As if the leggings were pants. It is incredibly unflattering and immodest (I will not show an example to spare you). 

Modesty is not hiding your beauty but saving it. 

Modesty makes you feel good about yourself. People are judging you on the content of your character. 

Don’t be afraid. Be modest!


The Truth

Christianity is hard. People have fought and died over it. Nowadays (at least in the free countries) you’ll just argue over it. People argue whether a certain passage is for today or not, whether scripture is divinely inspired, and other things. But what does God say?

“But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.”‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2:23‬ ‭KJV‬

Avoid dumb questions because you know they begin fights.

But it is better to have the truth most of all.

“The Lord render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the Lord delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the Lord’s anointed.”            ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭26:23‬ ‭KJV‬

We will get our heavenly rewards if we run the race to completion.

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”

“A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭28:20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.”    ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭2:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

So as long as we have the Truth, and keep it to the end, we will be with Christ.


Do you love? Of course you do. You have your mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers and husbands and wives. You have your whole family and friends. You love them all. Why do you love? Scriptures are very clear on this. It talks about love all the time.

Who else can talk about love than he who created it?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV
The apostle Luke tells us how we should love one another, even our enemies and even lend to them without expecting anything in return. 
“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.”
Luke 6:35 KJV
Your love can’t be fake. 
Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. Romans 12:9

God IS love. 
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4:7-12 KJV
And the best kind of love. 
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
John 15:13 KJV
So I urge all my fellow Christians to love. Love yourself, love your neighbors, love you enemies, and love God.

We are sanctified

As Christians we need to be sanctified. That is, to become holy. Many people believe that sanctification is impossible. How are we ever truly to become holy? Well it’s a command. And it is more than possible. “And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.”

Leviticus 20:26 KJV
And it’s not only in the Old Testament either. 
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;”
1 Peter 1:15 KJV
So we must be holy. But how? Well one way is through obedience, and also thru the blood of Jesus. 
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”
1 Peter 1:2

Because you are a true Christian, you are sanctified. 
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”
1 Corinthians 1:30 KJV
But there is another sanctification. The final and ultimate one when the Lord returns.
“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
