As Christians we need to be sanctified. That is, to become holy. Many people believe that sanctification is impossible. How are we ever truly to become holy? Well it’s a command. And it is more than possible. “And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.”
Leviticus 20:26 KJV
And it’s not only in the Old Testament either.
“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;”
1 Peter 1:15 KJV
So we must be holy. But how? Well one way is through obedience, and also thru the blood of Jesus.
“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”
1 Peter 1:2
Because you are a true Christian, you are sanctified.
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”
1 Corinthians 1:30 KJV
But there is another sanctification. The final and ultimate one when the Lord returns.
“And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV
Oh be it soon, Lord.
